#4 Ranked
CSN Was In Full Force at Bat-R-Up
1-22-10 - The nationally ranked
Coyotes came in out of the rain to train at Las
Vegas's premier Indoor baseball facility. CSN
was able to get their pitchers bullpens using
Bat-R-Up's three dirt mounds and had all fifteen
tunnels going getting plenty of swings to
prepare for their upcoming season opener on
January 29th. Head Coach Tim Chambers praised
the staff stating, "It was huge that Bat-R-Up
opened their doors so we would not lose another
day of practice". Coach Chambers went on to say
that Bat-R-Up was the best facility he has seen.
Carter also earned the A's Player of the Year
honor for the second year in a row and nabbed
Texas League MVP laurels as well.
Adding in his numbers from a brief Triple-A
debut at Sacramento at season's end, Carter's
final stat line reads .329, 28 homers and 115
RBIs in 138 games. He led the Minors with 179
hits, tied for the Minor League lead in total
bases (310), ranked second in RBIs and
extra-base hits and finished third in runs
scored.
He achieved all of this at age 22, leading
the Oakland system as well in doubles (43),
walks (85) and slugging (.570).

CLIENTS FIND COLLEGE PLACEMENT
Nick Bata and Dyllon Hansen of Faith
Lutheran have accepted scholarships to attend
Otero Junior College in the fall of 2010.
Billy Bob Ward and Christian Centrella
both seniors at Palo Verde HS took visits this
past weekend to Concordia University. They were
able to watch Bat-R-Up and College Placement
Client Sam Lindsay get his 1st college
victory on the mound throwing 5 solid innings.
Lindsay was relieved on the mound by another
College Placement Client Dan Levine of
Green valley High School.
In addition, Joey Rickard and Stephen
Manthei also had great success opening
weekend. Both were placed at the University Of
Arizona (D-1) By Coach Buck. Rickard was 6 for 9
including a 3-run home run while starting in CF
for the Wildcats. Manthei threw 4 2/3 innings of
shutout baseball.
R.J. Santigate, who was placed at Long
Beach State by Coach Buck, was a starter opening
weekend as a freshman for the Dirtbags. As well
as Paul Sewald, Mike Dedrick, and
Sam Wolff who all saw time on the mound
for the University of San Diego (D-1) in the
opening series against Indiana State. All were
placed by Coach Buck at USD.
At the highest
level, baseball training revolves around strength
conditioning, speed training and flexibility training.
Successful baseball players also use Plyometrics and
specific lifts to increase their upper and lower body
power. Physical training has become a lost method and
deemed unnecessary to many coaches during their
practices, as many coaches perceive strength
conditioning as detrimental to the needed motor skills
required by players.
Modern day baseball
players are great ball players, but even better
athletes. Professional players tend to be lean and
extremely quick. And studies have shown that
baseball-specific programs can significantly increase
production by the common baseball player.
Power training - through
Plyometrics (a type of exercise training designed to
produce fast, powerful movements) or Ballistics (the
science that deals with the motion, behavior) can
increase a baseball player's speed and agility. It can
also improve throwing and batting velocity much more
than the garden variety weight training done in a weight
room.
Shoulder injuries tend to
be a major concern in baseball, as pitching places an
inordinate amount of stress on the shoulder complex. And
while strength conditioning can help prevent such
injuries, traditional weight lifting exercises may not
be suitable in targeting the correct muscles or the
correct movement patterns. At Bat R Up, special
exercises are easily adopted into a baseball training
program to help significantly reduce the risk of overuse
damage.
